Jesus is Risen
From the Pastor...

The Resurrection of Jesus gives full meaning
and purpose to His suffering and death.

Sometimes, life is just not fair!

Haven’t you felt this way before? Trying to figure out why things happen the way they do, and coming up with no real reason - other than the simple fact that life is just not fair? It is sometimes just the way it is, and if we try too hard to figure things out, we just waste whatever time and energy we should be spending on other things.

Easter reminds me every year that life wasn’t fair for Jesus either. He did not deserve what this world gave him, and there was certainly no earthly reason for him to have to suffer the way he did. His rejection by this world was a statement of our own sinfulness and preference for the darkness than any lack in his light which he came to shed on us all. As a rule, human beings have a real problem with being short-sighted, and I know myself to be no exception to the rule. If Jesus, being perfect, had to suffer and die, there certainly must be some value for our own suffering and death, even though we cannot see it, or may not know it until we are with God forever.

The Resurrection of Jesus gives full meaning and purpose to His suffering and death after all. One cannot come to new life, if the old one is not taken away first. One cannot know freedom from pain and suffering if one has not known what pain and suffering is in the first place. I do not believe for one minute that God inflicts difficulties on us, but He knows that they will come our way in this life. Like Jesus knew his Father was with him throughout all that he endured, we too can count on the same. We need to count on the same.

One fact will always remain. As long as we are alive in this world, life will have a certain level of unfairness to it. There will always be some degree of injustice and inequity among us as human beings. It is a part of life itself, and a necessary part of life at that. But for us who believe in the Risen Christ, the One who suffered and died, this injustice and inequity will always give way in the end. Jesus rising from the dead proves it to us, and we can count on it. We must remember this everyday and know that there will be ultimate victory Suffering and death is never the end, as we might feel it at times, but will definitely give way to the ultimate freedom, life with God himself. Forever. For Always.

As we continue to celebrate the joy of our Risen Savior, may we find courage grow each day to deal withw whatever this life will give to us, trusting that there is indeed a purpose. One day we will know what that purpose is when death itself is no more.
