The Holy Week Schedule Mass Schedule
Holy Week Ministry Schedule

Ash Wednesday (February 17th) is a Day of Fast and Abstinence, as is Good Friday. This means that every effort should be made to limit our eating only to one full meal those days, and cut out all snacking the rest of the day. No meat is to be eaten.

Mass, with the distribution of ashes, will take place at the following times:
8:00am St. Christopher Church
7:00pm St. Theresa Church

The Fridays of Lent are Days of Abstinence. As a sign of penance and purification, we refrain from eating meat on Fridays in Lent.

These regulations pertain to all Catholics between the ages of 14 and 59 inclusive, without medical conditions that make these disciplines of Lent dangerous to their health. While younger, and older, Catholics are not held bound by these regulations, all Catholics are called upon to make some kind of regular sacrifice throughout the season of Lent.

Confessions are heard every Saturday from 3:00 to 3:45 at St. Theresa Church. There will be NO CONFESSIONS on Holy Saturday,

Fasting
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God'".(Matt 4:1-11 NIV)

Church law requires abstinence from meat (14 and older) on Ash Wednesday and all of the Fridays in Lent. In addition, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are also fast days: those between the ages of 18 and 59 should eat less, that is take no solid food between meals and only one meal that day should be a full one. Serious reasons, such as one's health, can excuse from these rules.

Almsgiving
Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21)
