Would you like to be a part of a ministry that makes a real difference in others' lives when they need it most - and in your own? Consider becoming s Stephen Minister!

Stephen Ministers are parish members who provide one-to-one caring ministry to people experiencing grief, divorce, lonliness, job loss, hospitalization, and many other life difficulties. The group meets each Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in the basement classroom at St. Theresa Rectory.

Stephen Minister training equips you to do an excellent job as a Stephen Minister as well as to imprive the quality of all your realtionships. Topics include:
  • listening
  • feelings
  • confidentiatlity
  • providing Christian care
  • maintaining boundaries
  • crisis theory and practice
Once equipped, Stephen Ministers are prayfully matched with people who are going through a stressful time or life difficulty. A Stephen Minister meets with this person once a week for about an hour to listen, care, ancourage, and pray. The Stephen Minister brings Christ's Presence into the person's life and also experiences Christ in the other person. It's really a life-changing ministry for both the care receiver and the Stephen Minister.

Think and pray about this opportunity. We are excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of those who undertake this ministry and in the lives of those who will receive care from our Stephen Ministers. You will also grow spiritually when you serve as a Stephen Minister. When God calls you to service, he also gives you the faith and the gifts you need to do His will.
